Repurposing Your Waste
The circular economy begins with reusing waste and leads to sustainability benefits up and down the value chain. Sitos repurposes agricultural and forestry waste products, municipal waste, green and food waste to create high-quality biochar. Our process functions at a 3:1 ratio, re-purposing three tons of organic waste and producing one ton of biochar. Not only are we removing carbon, but we are also solving for waste management. The synergies between our waste repurposing, soil health supporting, drought mitigating, high-quality biochar and our repeatable manufacturing process supports multiple environmental and social benefits.
Case Study: Monterey Project #1 - Municipal Wood Waste to Biochar
Sitos Group Monterey Project #1 has embarked on a transformative journey that not only tackles agricultural waste but also promotes environmental sustainability and improved soil health. By utilizing abundant agricultural byproducts Keith Day Composting as feedstock from for biochar production, we've achieved a remarkable reduction in landfill waste and increase in soil health.
Our process involves converting these byproducts into biochar, a carbon-rich soil amendment with numerous benefits. Agricultural waste has emerged as an ideal biochar feedstock for various reasons. Not only is it readily available and often abundant, but it also lends itself to the creation of a stable form of biochar with acceptable pH levels, making it suitable for a wide range of agricultural applications.
Through Sitos Monterey Project #1, we're not only reducing our ecological footprint but also demonstrating the immense potential of repurposing agricultural waste. It's a testament to the power of innovation and sustainability, and we're excited to continue making a positive impact on the environment and farming communities alike.
